Florence, as I am sure you will know if the capital of Italy’s Tuscany region. It is world renowned as a centre of art especially Renaissance art and architecture. I am absolutely passionalte about art and Italian food and for me these are the top 2 reasosn to visit. But let me narrow it down a little more than that.
Here are the main things I want to see in Florence
- The Duomo
- The Ufizzi Gallery
- The Tuscan hills
- Wine tasting
- Cookery class
The Duomo
The Duomo is a spectacular cathedral with an iconic tiled dome . It is over 700 years old It was begun in 1296 and took over 200 years to complete The dome engineered by Filippo Brunelleschi and it is a perfect example of Gothic architecture. I love a beautiful cathedral and would be so delighted to see this!
The Uffizi Gallery
The Uffizi Gallery is an absolute must-see for an art lover like me as it houses paining s by Michelangelo, Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, and other Renaissance masters. How fabulous! Apparently the queues get HUGE so i would be booing up this one in advance
The Tuscan Hills
The Tuscan hills look spectacular and have the best views and I would love to explore on a vespa! What could be more Italian than that right!
Wine tasting
It would be unforgivable to come to Tuscany and not do any wine tasting – so I think i would have to get myself to a winery whilst in Florence! Glass of Chianti anyone?
Cooking Class
I love to cook as regular readers of my Eat Simply blog know only too well. Cookery classes abound in Florence and Oh, I would love to make Focaccia and Bruschetta as well as possibly the best pizza in the world – so I would get myself booked in in for a world class cooking class maybe in a traditional Tuscan farm house)
So there you have it my itinerary of fun things to do in Florence and oh my goodness I could go on and on have you been?
