Travel Blogger Tales from Jaime Oliver

Hi I am Jaime Oliver a blogger over at theoliversmadhouse.co.uk, notthatjaimeoliver.com and OurFamilyHomestead.co.uk

I am mum to Joshua aged 8 and Jacob aged 3. My husband and I love travelling but travelling with kids is something we are eager to do more off.

Over the last 8 years we have had some amazing family travel adventures and we have some further trips planned that we can’t wait to take.

Where was your favourite ever  trip?

I think my husband and I would both say that our most amazing trip ever was to Lake Garda in Italy. We stayed with Canvas Holidays at Bella Italia for 2 weeks and it was the most magical 2 weeks. Fantastic food, great resort and the opportunity to travel around Lake Garda by boat to visit some of the smaller towns round the lake. We would love to go back again and hope to next year.

What made you choose to go there and who did you go with?

Originally I won some money from an event I attended that gave us some money off vouchers with Canvas Holidays.

Having never stayed with Canvas Holidays before I was slightly anxious but we chose Bella Italia based on the activities on offer for the kids, the location to a town and the short transfer from an airport.

What made it so special ?

This trip is the first one that we ever took as a family that was for 2 weeks. I think this massively helped with stress levels and not having to rush to fit everything in.

We also travelled with my in laws as they were situated next to us on site. This was our first multi-generational holiday and I am thrilled to say it won’t be our last.

The flight times were great and with having 4 adults and a 2 year old at the time it made for great plane trips! Not something you can normally say with a toddler.

The resort itself had several different accommodation types. We had the pleasure of staying in one of Canvas Holidays 2 bedroom mobile homes with full air conditioning. It had a covered deck, outside table and chairs and some recliners.

The vans were amazingly well equipped and had absolutely everything in them we needed for the 2 weeks we were there.

The site itself had all the amenities you would expect with mixed accommodation. There were several shops selling an array of foods, a small amusement arcade, clothes washing facilities,  restaurants and pizzeria that offered takeaway.

There were numerous pool areas on site and lots of outdoor play facilities so the kids had lots of things to keep them entertained.

The whole holiday was so laid back with day trips visiting the local area like our boat trip to Bardolino and our day trip to Verona.

Of all the places I have visited Italy stole a large chunk of my heart and I am super eager to go back and visit as soon as we can!

In fact with my 40th Birthday this year my husband and I are going to try and get an adult only weekend in Rome. I am keeping everything crossed we are there soon.

Where was your least favourite trip and why?

I adore UK holidays and we annually take a trip to the East Coast and have been rather lucky on the weather front. However 7 years back we visited a resort that was so run down and just really dirty. The accommodation was sub-standard and we left a few days into the break because with thick fog and filth there was no enjoying it.

Destinations on my bukit would love to visit include:

Rome, Paris, Dubai, Ireland, Scotland, Florida and Canada

Thankyou Jaime
