Hello! I am Louise, mum to two boys aged 12 and 9 and I’ve been blogging for around 8 years at http://www.mygorgeousboys.com! I blog mainly about things we do – days out and holidays mixed in with parenting and just stuff I want to write about! My blog really helped keep me sane when the boys were younger and almost made me do things with them to have something to write about! Recently it has been neglected as I’ve trained as a primary school teacher and been rather busy with that but plan to get back to writing more soon!!
Where was your favourite ever trip?
It is so hard to choose one but our last holiday to New York and a Bahamas cruise is definitely one of my favourites.
What made you choose to go there and who did you go with?
I had been to New York twice before – once with girlfriends and once with my husband so it was so it felt like the right time to go as a family.
New York kept creeping into our lives in the build up – Noah played Santa in Elf (set in NYC) for his theatre group and then they did Madagascar (set in Central Park Zoo) so it just felt like it was calling us!
The cruise was a new experience for us all and definitely one of those bucket list items!
What made it so special ?
NYC is just such a magical place! We did some new stuff, as it had changed a lot since our last visit, and obviously focussed more on the things to do as a family. We only had two full days but managed to squeeze lots in. It was so lovely to see the city through the boy’s eyes – they absolutely loved it!
The cruise was just incredible for us all. It really is a floating city which just felt so safe and welcoming and net your every wish. It was like being in a bubble for a week! We had stop offs at Cape Canaveral (we went on a trip on an airboat to see the alligators ?), Cococay- RC’s private island and the capital of the Bahamas, Nassau so got to see a few very different places and experience awesome things then get back on the ship to an evening of delicious food and fabulous entertainment! It was like so many different holidays in one! There was so much to do on the ship on sea days – dodgems, pub quizzes, hot tubs, escape room, roller skating, skydiving, cocktail of the day to drink, west end show – We Will Rock You, table tennis, Xbox, surfing as well as squeezing in time to do some relaxing!
Where was your least favourite trip and why?
We’ve had lots of camping trips where it has poured it down with rain but we have made the best of it by decamping to a pub! Our last Camp Bestival was brill till the last day when it was hit with a storm and the Queen’s 60th Jubillee weekend was spent camping in a soggy field in Derbyshire with friends! We still had fun!
What destination is on your Bukit list ?
I’d love to go to South East Asia – Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam – any or all I don’t mind! I had a stopover in Singapore en route to New Zealand but only had a few hours in a tour of the city so would love to go back there too.
Thankyou so much for sharing your travel blogger tales with us Louise
